Discoverence
Hemophilia was not discovered by an individual, but instead discovered by several physicians. In the 2nd century, hemophilia was first mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud. The first to describe hemophilia was Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi; Dr. John Conrad Otto provided the genetic explanation of the disease in the 19th century. In 1828, a student of the University of Zurich, Friedrich Hopff, described the condition of the disease as “haemorrhaphilia". It later became known as hemophilia.
