Managing a successful hemophilia society requires a vast mix skills, budgeting, information on technology, counselling, public relations, and economics. Also, the leaders of hemophilia societies must have the knowledge of politics and most important of all, about blood products and new technology. In addition, it would be impossible to employ a staff with all this knowledge and skills. That is why the societies find volunteers.
In order to manage and budget, a hemophilia society must set out an annual budget to follow. Hemophilia societies have the responsibility to their members to make sure that the money/funds they are raising is being used properly. To make sure that all the money that is being received and being spent is accounted for, proper accounting and bookkeeping must be in place.
The people in these societies fundraise in an ethical manner. New fundraising techniques have been explored. Some example would be, a small events such as a coffee morning to huge national campaigns.
As you can read, there are lots of events, developments, and fundraising being done to help the hemophiliacs.
Listed below are some treatments for hemophilia.
- Most of hemophilia's reaseach is centered around the "Gene Therapy." In gene therapy scientist remove the cells of a person with hemophilia. The scientists then alter the cells genetically by inserting new genetic material into them that reprograms the cells.
- Prophylaxis with regular infusion of deficient clotting factor, prevents joint bleeding, structural joint damage, and frequency of bleeding.
- The most effective treatment for hemophilia is replacement therapy. Replacement therapy is used either by synthetic or human blood, clotting concentrates are slowly dripped or injected into the veins, replacing clotting factor that is missing or low.
- Desmopressin (DDAVP) is a man-made hormone used to treat people who have mild hemophilia A. DDAVP isn't used to treat hemophilia B or severe hemophilia A.
